Anna: Hello, and welcome to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.! I am going back to school! Georgetown is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the United States. The Jesuits are a religious order known worldwide for their many colleges and universities. Students have been studying here since 1792!
아나: 안녕하세요, 워싱턴 DC에 있는 조지타운대학교에 오신 걸 환영합니다! 제가 학교로 돌아가요! 조지타운은 미국에서 가장 오래된 가톨릭 예수회 대학입니다. 예수회는 세계 곳곳에 많은 단과대학과 종합대학들을 가진 것으로 유명한 종교단죠. 1792년 이래 여기서 학생들이 공부해왔답니다!

Sarah: Hey, are you finished with your report?
사라: 이봐요, 보고서 끝냈어요?

Taylor: Almost. I have been writing and re-writing since last night! The subject is really interesting to me.
테일러: 거의요. 어젯밤부터 내내 쓰고 다시 쓰고 해왔어요. 주제가 제게 정말 흥미로워요.

Sarah: Me too! I have been studying this topic* for a long time.
사라: 저도요! 이 주제에 대해 오랫동안 공부해왔다고요.

Anna: Am I late?
아나: 저 늦었나요?

Sarah: You’re a little late. But don’t worry. The professor isn’t here yet.

Anna: How long has the class been waiting?
아나: 수강생들이 얼마나 오래 기다려온 거죠?

Taylor: We’ve only been waiting for about 10 minutes.

Anna: Oh good. Oh, no! I forgot my pencil sharpener. Excuse me, do you have a pencil sharpener I can borrow?
아나: 오 좋네요. 오, 안돼요! 연필깎이를 잊었네요. 실례합니다. 제가 빌릴 수 있는 연필깎이 갖고있나요?

Taylor: No, sorry.
테일러: 아뇨, 미안해요.

Anna: Oh wait. I found my extra one! Whew, that was close.
아나: 오 기다려요. 여분을 찾았어요! 휴, 큰일 날 뻔 했네요.

Anna: So, how long have you been studying at Georgetown?
아나: 그래서, 조지타운에서 얼마나 오래 공부해왔나요?

Andrew: I’ve been studying here since 2015.
앤드루: 2015년부터 여기서 공부해왔어요.

Anna: Awesome. You know, I've been wanting to go back to school for a long time. So, here I am!
아나: 굉장하군요. 아시다시피, 저는 오랫동안 학교로 돌아가길 원해왔어요. 그래서, 제가 여기 있는거죠!

Andrew: Well, you picked a great school. I’ve been really happy here.
앤드루: 음, 훌륭한 학교를 고르셨어요. 저는 여기서 정말 행복해요.

Anna: Awesome. See, I’ve been working for several years now. So, going back to school makes me a little nervous.
아나: 굉장해요. 보세요, 저는 몇 년동안 일을 해왔어요. 그래서, 학교로 돌아가는 게 조금 긴장됩니다.

Randall: Don’t be nervous. Just pay attention and do your best!

Anna: What’s that?

Jada: This is my draft.

Anna: What draft?

Jada: The professor told us to bring our drafts.
제이다: 교수님께서 우리에게 초안을 가져오라고 하셨어요.

Anna: I think she said “giraffe.”
아나: 저는 교수님이 ‘기린(giraffe)’이라고 말하신 줄 알았어요.

Jada: No. She didn’t.
제이다: 아뇨. 그렇게 말씀하지 않았어요.

Randall: I’m sure you’ve been understanding just fine.
랜달: 그동안 잘 이해해온 걸로 확신해요.

Anna: Here comes the professor.
아나: 교수님 오십니다.

Dr. Jones: Hello class! Sorry I'm late, but the snow storm made getting here really difficult. I see you’ve been waiting very patiently. So, let’s get started! Who wants to give their talk first?
존스 박사: 안녕하세요 수강생 여러분! 늦어서 미안해요, 하지만 눈 때문에 여기 오기가 정말 어려웠어요. 여러분이 매우 참을성있게 기다려온 것 알아요. 그러니, 시작합시다! 누가 먼저 말하고 싶어요?

Anna: Oh! Oh! Please, please pick me.

Anna: Who me? Sure. Thanks.

Anna: Here is my report on “Violins in the City.”
아나: 여기 ‘도시 속의 바이올린들(Violins)’에 대한 제 보고서입니다.

Anna: People have been looking for a solution to the problem of violins in the city. I say stop! Stop! They are not the problem! In fact, violins are part of the solution!
아나: 사람들은 도시에 있는 바이올린들의 문제를 위한 해법을 찾아왔죠. 저는 ‘그만!’이라고 말합니다. 그것들은 문제가 아니에요! 사실, 바이올린들은 해법의 일부죠.

Anna: Are you all understanding me? 'Cause you look a little confused. I’ll talk louder. Violins create beautiful music that can fill a city with hope.
