Lesson 45 이 땅은 당신의 땅 This Land is Your Land.

Anna: You know I love Washington, D.C. But I want to see more of the United States. My roommate Marsha and I will be on vacation at the same time. So, we are going on a road trip together! Hi, Marsha!
아나: 아시다시피, 저는 워싱턴 DC를 사랑합니다. 하지만 미국의 더 많은 곳을 보고 싶어요. 룸메이트 마샤와 제가 같은 기간에 휴가를 냈어요. 그래서, 우리는 함께 자동차 여행을 떠납니다! 안녕하세요, 마샤!

Marsha: Hi!
마샤: 안녕하세요!

Anna: I packed my bags and I am ready to go!
아나: 가방도 쌌고, 갈 준비됐어요!

Marsha: Did you make a list of all the places you want to see?
마샤: 가보고 싶은 곳 리스트 만들었어요?

Anna: I did. I want to see New York City and the Statue of Liberty!
아나: 만들었어요. 뉴욕과 자유의 여신상을 보고싶어요!

Marsha: And I want to see Mount Rushmore!
마샤: 그리고 저는 러시모어산을 보고 싶어요!

Anna: (Anna writes) Mount Rushmore.
아나: (아나가 받아적는다) 러시모어산.

Marsha: And don’t forget the Grand Canyon!
마샤: 그리고 그랜드캐년 잊지 마세요!

Anna: (Anna writes) Let’s not forget California’s redwood forest! There are so many places to see!
아나: (아나가 적는다) 캘리포니아에 있는 레드우드 삼림도 잊지 말자고요! 가 볼 곳이 정말 많아요!

Marsha: We will be driving for a long time. So, we might get bored.
마샤: 우리 오랫동안 차를 탈 거예요. 그래서, 지루해질 지도 몰라요.

Anna: Bored? No way! We can talk.
아나: 지루해진다고요? 어림없어요! 대화할 수 있잖아요.

Marsha: Or not talk.
마샤: 아니면 대화하지 않든가요.

Anna: We can play word games. We can sing! You know, our trip is like that famous American song. (sings) "This land is your land, This land is my land ..."*
아나: 단어 게임을 할 수도 있죠. 노래 부를 수도 있고요! 알죠, 우리 여행은 유명한 미국 노래 같아요. (노래한다) “이 땅은 당신의 땅, 이 땅은 나의 땅...”

Marsha: (sings) "...from California to the New York island ..."
마샤: (노래한다) “...캘리포니아부터 뉴욕 섬까지...”

BOTH: “...to the redwood forest to the Gulf stream waters ... this land was made for you and me!”
모두: “...레드우드 삼림과 멕시코 만류 바닷물까지... 이땅은 당신과 나를 위해 만들어졌어요!”

Marsha: Will we be stopping soon?
마샤: 우리 조만간 정차하나요?

Anna: We won’t be stopping soon.
아나: 조만간 정차 안 해요.

Marsha: I’m hungry.
마샤: 배고파요.

Anna: Marsha, we just left D.C.! We’ll be eating lunch in about 2 hours. Can you wait?
아나: 마샤, 방금 워싱턴 DC를 떠났잖아요! 2시간 안에 식사할거예요. 기다릴 수 있어요?

Marsha: I guess.
마샤: 그런 거 같아요.

Anna: Here, have an apple. It’s organic! (Anna throws the apple. It goes out the window.)
아나: 여기요, 사과 드세요. 유기농이에요! (아나가 사과를 던진다. 사과는 창문 밖으로 나간다.)

Marsha: Thanks.
마샤: 고맙습니다.

Marsha: Okay, we will be arriving in New York City very soon!
마샤: 좋아요, 우리는 곧 뉴욕시에 도착할거예요!

Anna: I can’t wait to see The Big Apple! Marsha, look! There she is!
아나: ‘빅애플(뉴욕시의 별칭)’를 빨리 보고싶어요!, 마샤, 보세요! 저기 있어요!

Marsha: The Statue of Liberty!
마샤: 자유의 여신상!

Anna: She is awesome!
아나: 굉장하네요!

Anna: Marsha, in ten minutes, guess what we’ll be seeing?
아나: 마샤, 앞으로 10분 안에 우리가 뭘 볼지 맞춰볼래요?

Marsha: What?
마샤: 뭔데요?

Anna: The largest rocking chair in the world!
아나: 세계에서 가장 큰 흔들의자요!

Marsha: No, we won’t be seeing that.
마샤: 아뇨. 우린 그걸 보지 않을 거예요.

Anna: Marsha, it’s on my other list -- Best Roadside Sights. (Marsha grabs the paper and throws it out the window.)
아나: 마샤, 그게 다른 리스트에 있단 말에요 – ‘최고의 도로주변 관광지’ (마샤가 종이를 잡아 창 밖으로 던진다)

Anna: Oh no! We littered! And my list is gone. Don't worry. I brought the book. (lifts up large book, starts reading)
아나: 안돼요! 우리 무단투기했잖아요! 그리고 제 리스트도 사라졌고요. 걱정 말아요. 책을 가져왔으니까요. (큰 책을 들어올려 읽기 시작한다)

(Later)
(잠시 후)

Anna: ... and that is why I am so afraid of sheep.
아나: ...그리고 그게 제가 양들을 무서워하는 이유예요.

Marsha: (snores a little)
마샤: (약하게 코를 곤다)

Anna: Wow, I feel better. Marsha, you are a great listener.
아나: 우와, 기분 좋아졌어요. 마샤, 당신은 정말 잘 들어주네요.

Marsha: (waking up) Where are we?
마샤: (잠에서 깨며) 여기 어디죠?

Anna: We will be entering North Dakota any minute now!
아나: 우리 몇 분 안에 노스다코다 주에 진입해요!

Marsha: North Dakota! We are going in the wrong direction! We want to go to South Dakota!
마샤: 노스다코다! 우리 잘못된 방향으로 가는 중이에요! 우리 사우스다코다로 가려는거 잖아요!

Anna: No problem. I will just exit the highway. We will be going south … in just a minute. There. Done! We're going south! Okay, we will be stopping for gas and a bathroom break in about an hour.
아나: 괜찮아요. 곧 고속도로를 나갈게요. 남쪽으로 갈거예요… 몇 분 내에요. 저기. 됐죠! 우리는 남쪽으로 가고 있습니다! 좋아요, 기름 넣고 화장실 이용할 휴식을 위해 한 시간 안에 정차할게요.

Marsha: Then we will be very near to Mount Rushmore!
마샤: 그런 다음 우리는 러시모어산에 아주 가깝게 가는거죠!

Anna: Yay! Dead presidents’ heads on the side of a mountain, woo-hoo!
아나: 이야! 돌아가신 대통령들의 머리가 산 중턱에 있잖아요, 우후!

Anna: We did it, Marsha! We made it to California! It’s beautiful!
아나: 우리가 해냈어요, 마샤! 캘리포니아까지 왔다고요! 아름다워요!

Marsha: And we saw everything on the list!
마샤: 그리고 리스트에 있는 모든 곳을 봤어요!

Anna: Well, we saw everything on page 1 of the list.
아나: 음, 리스트 1쪽에 있는 모든 걸 본거예요.

Marsha: What do you mean "page 1?"
마샤: 1쪽이라니 무슨 말이죠?

Anna: Oh. Here are pages 2, 3 and 4! We’ll be very busy driving back to Washington, D.C. Until next time … !
아나: 오, 여기 2,3,4쪽 있어요! 워싱턴 DC로 돌아가면서 매우 바쁠 거예요. 다음시간까지 안녕!
