Anna: Hello! In Washington, D.C., there are many places that bring history to life. But people who live here often do not have time to see them. They are too busy with work -- like me. Hi, Marsha!
아나: 안녕하세요! 워싱턴 DC에는 역사가 생생하게 살아나는 곳들이 많습니다. 하지만 여기 사는 사람들은 대게 그것들을 볼 시간이 없죠. 일터에서 너무 바쁘니까요—저 처럼요. 안녕하세요, 마샤!

Marsha: Hi, Anna! Have a seat.
마샤: 안녕하세요, 아나! 앉으세요.

Anna: Thanks. This was a good idea. Working outdoors is nice.
아나: 고마워요. 이거 좋은 생각이었네요. 야외에서 일하는 것 좋잖아요.

Marsha: Um-hum, it is.
마샤: 네-에, 그렇죠.

Anna: I am tired. Today was a busy day at work. And I still have work to do!
아나: 저는 지쳤어요. 오늘 직장에서 바쁜 날이었거든요. 그리고 아직도 할 일이 있어요!

Marsha: Hmm, that’s too bad.
마샤: 음, 그거 참 안됐군요.

Anna: How are you these days?
아나: 요즘 어떻게 지내세요?

Marsha: I'm really busy too, Anna. Let’s get to work.
마샤: 저도 정말 바빠요, 아나. 이제 일하자고요.

Anna: Marsha, look! That bus has a photo of Abraham Lincoln!
아나: 마샤, 보세요! 저 버스에 에이브러햄 링컨 사진이 있어요!

Marsha: That’s an advertisement for Ford’s Theatre. They have a new show.
마샤: 그건 포드 극장 광고에요. 새로운 공연을 한다고요.

Anna: They have shows where Abraham Lincoln died?
아나: 에이브러햄 링컨이 숨진 곳에서 공연을 해요?

Marsha: Yeah, it’s a working theater and a museum.
마샤: 네, 지금도 운영중인 극장이자 박물관이에요.

Anna: I love Lincoln. You know, Marsha, that advertisement reminds me of something.
아나: 저는 링컨을 좋아해요. 알아요? 마샤, 저 광고는 뭔가 생각나게 해요.

Marsha: Um-hum. What’s that?
마샤: 오-오. 그게 뭐죠?

Anna: When I was a little girl... When I was a little girl... I was not like other children.
아나: 제가 어린 소녀였을 때요... 제가 어린 소녀였을 때요... 저는 다른 어린아이들 같지 않았어요.

Marsha: Um-hum, I can believe that.
마샤: 음, 그거 믿을 수 있어요.

Anna's voice: I was tall, serious child. At the playground the other children played silly games. They played with dart guns. They played on the swings, the slide and the teeter-totter. They also played ball But not me. I loved to read serious books about U.S. presidents.
아나의 음성: 저는 키크고 심각한 아이였어요. 놀이터에서 다른 아이들은 유치한 놀이를 했죠. 장난감 총을 가지고 놀고, 그네도 타고, 미끄럼틀도 타고, 시소도 타고요. 공을 갖고 놀기도 했죠. 하지만 저는 아니었어요. 저는 미국 대통령들에 대한 진지한 책들을 읽는 걸 좋아했어요.

Anna: In fact, I wanted to be... don’t laugh... President of the United States.
아나: 사실은요, 저는 뭐가 되고 싶었냐하면... 웃지 마세요... 미국 대통령이요.

Marsha: (laughs)
마샤: (웃는다)

Anna: Stop! I know it’s a silly childhood dream.
아나: 멈추세요! 어릴 적 철없는 꿈이었다는 거 알아요.

Marsha: I’m sorry. It’s not silly. Guess what I wanted to be?
마샤: 미안해요. 철없지 않아요. 저는 뭐가 되고 싶었게요?

Anna: What?
아나: 뭐죠?

Marsha: I wanted to be... an astronaut.
마샤: 저는... 우주비행사가 되고 싶었어요.

Anna: Really?
아나: 정말요?

Marsha's Voice: When I was a kid, I studied the stars and planets. I wanted to fly into outer space!
마샤의 음성: 제가 어린 아이였을 때, 별과 행성들을 공부했어요. 우주 공간을 비행하고 싶었거든요!

Anna: You know, Marsha, childhood dreams are really important.
아나: 그거 알아요, 마샤, 어린시절 꿈들은 정말 중요해요.

Marsha: They are. And it’s good to remember them.
마샤: 그렇죠. 그리고 그것들을 기억하는 것도 좋은 일이에요.

Anna: Hey! I have an idea. Let’s go.
아나: 이봐요! 좋은 생각이 있어요. 가요.

Marsha: Go where?
마샤: 어디로 가요?

Anna: Let’s go make our childhood dreams come true.
아나: 우리 어릴적 꿈들이 이뤄지게 하자고요.

Marsha: We’re going to the Air & Space Museum! Yes!
마샤: 항공우주박물관에 가는거군요! 좋아요!

Anna: No. We’re going to see a show at Ford’s Theatre just like Abraham Lincoln! It’s not far from here.
아나: 아녜요. 포드극장에 쇼를 보러 가는 거예요, 에이브러햄 링컨이 했던 것 처럼요! 여기서 멀지 않아요.

Marsha: Uh huh. That is your childhood dream.
마샤: 음. 그건 당신의 어릴적 꿈이잖아요.

Anna: Good point. Okay, next week, we'll come here and be astronauts.
아나: 좋은 지적이에요. 좋아요, 다음주에 우리 여기 와서 우주비행사가 되자고요.

Marsha: Honestly?
마사: 정말요?

Anna: Honestly.
아나: 정말요.

Anna: Tonight we are seeing a show at Ford’s Theatre, where a man shot President Abraham Lincoln. This is history come to life... and a childhood dream come true! Until next time....
