Lesson 28 합격했어요! I Passed It!

Anna: Hello! Guess what this is? This is my driver’s license! I passed my driving test! Today, I rented a car so I can drive around Washington, D.C. You can see more of the city this way. Marsha!
아나: 안녕하세요! 이게 뭔지 맞춰볼래요? 제 운전면허증이에요! 운전면허시험 합격했거든요! 오늘 저는 차를 렌트했어요. 워싱턴 DC 주변을 드라이브하려고요. 이렇게 하면 이 도시를 더 많이 돌아볼 수 있다고요. 마샤!

Marsha: Anna, did you get your driver’s license?
마샤: 아나, 운전면허 땄어요?

Anna: I did! But it was not easy.
네: 땄어요! 하지만 쉽지 않았어요.

Marsha: Why? What happened?
마샤: 왜요? 무슨 일이 있었죠?

Anna: Well, you know, I can drive farm equipment really well. But I was really nervous driving in Washington, D.C. traffic!
아나: 음, 그러니까요, 제가 농기계들은 잘 운전해요. 하지만 워싱턴 DC의 교통 속에서 차를 몰 땐 정말 불안해진다고요!

Marsha: Did you pass the test the first time?
마샤: 시험 첫 번째에 합격했어요?

Anna: Well ... no. But I did pass the second time.
아나: 음 ... 아뇨. 하지만 두 번째에 통과했답니다.

Marsha: What happened during the first test?
마샤: 첫 번째 시험 도중 무슨 일이 있었는데요?

Anna: It started fine.
아나: 시작은 괜찮았어요.

John: Okay ... Anna. Is your seatbelt buckled?
존: 좋아요 ... 아나. 안전벨트 채웠나요?

Anna: Yes, sir!
아나: 네, 그렇습니다!

John: Great. Please start the car.
존: 훌륭해요. 시동 거세요.

Anna: (to herself) Okay, Anna, start the car. I started the car. Good job, Anna.
아나: (독백) 좋아, 아나. 시동 걸어. 시동 걸었다. 잘했어, 아나.

John: Why are you talking to yourself?
존: 왜 스스로한테 말하는 거죠?

Anna: I am a little nervous. When I’m nervous, I talk to myself.
아나: 조금 불안해서요. 불안할 때 저는 저 스스로에게 말한다고요.

John: You don't need to be nervous.
존: 겁먹을 필요 없어요.

Anna: Listen to that engine!
아나: 저 엔진 소리 들어보세요!

John: Please, stop pushing the gas pedal!
아나: 부디 가속 페달 밟는 거 멈추세요!

Anna: Sorry.
아나: 죄송합니다.

John: Okay, when you are ready, turn.
존: 자, 준비됐을 때 방향 돌리세요.

Anna: Great!
아나: 좋아요!

John: Not now! You almost hit that car!
존: 지금 말고요! 저 차 부딪힐 뻔 했잖아요!

Anna: You said “turn!”
아나: 돌리라고 하셨잖아요!

John: Look first! There were cars in the street.
존: 먼저 둘러봐야죠! 도로에 차들이 있었잖아요.

Anna: Please don’t yell at me!
아나: 제발 저한테 소리지르지 마세요!

John: I’m sorry! I was afraid.
존: 미안해요! 두려웠어요.

Anna: You were yelling.
아나: 고함치셨다고요.

John: Look out for that car! Brake! Brake!!
존: 저 차 조심해요! 브레이크 밟으세요! 브레이크 밟아요!!

Anna and John: Ahhh!
아나와 존: 아아아아!

Anna: Why is everyone honking at us?
아나: 왜 모두들 우리한테 경적을 울리는거죠?

John: You were driving too slow! Anna, stay on the street!
존: 너무 천천히 가고 있었잖아요! 아나, 포장도로 위에 머물러요!

John: Hands on the wheel, Anna.
존: 손은 운전대 위에요, 아나.

Anna: What’s that sound?
아나: 저 소리는 뭐죠?

John: That, Anna, is the police.
존: 저건요, 아나, 경찰이에요.

Marsha: That sounds awful.
마샤: 끔찍한 사연이네요.

Anna: Yes, it did not go well. But, I practiced and passed the second time!
아나: 네, 잘 안됐죠. 하지만 저는 연습했고요, 두 번째 시도에 붙었어요!

Marsha: Do you know where you want to take your first drive in Washington, D.C.?
마사: 워싱턴 DC에서 첫 드라이브로 어디를 가고 싶은지 알아요?

Anna: Yes! Let’s go!
아나: 네! 가자고요!

Anna: There it is ... the White House!
아나: 저기에요 ... 백악관이요!

Marsha: Anna, you do know you can’t drive up to the White House, don’t you?
마샤: 아나, 백악관까지 차를 몰 수 없다는거 알죠, 몰라요?

Anna: Yes. No. I didn’t know. I guess we walk from here!
아나: 네. 아니오. 몰랐어요. 우리 여기서부터 걸으면 될 것 같네요!

Anna: Sometimes you can see more of Washington, D.C. in a car. If you want to see the White House, you need to walk. Until next time ... !
